I Want Nothing To Do With The Table

No more fighting for a “seat at the table.” That’s so 20th century. The true seat of power is no longer at the right of the CEO, or the left, or straight across.

You know where I want HR to be? Standing behind the CEO, whispering in their ear while everyone else fights for their attention. And, ironically enough, I think that’s where HR is best suited to stand. And no one is more qualified to be there.

  1. Maybe because the holidays are approaching, but this reminded me of the scene in the Will Ferrell movie, “Elf” where he says, “I like to whisper too.”
    Because I do.

  2. I love how sometimes the shortest posts are the most profound. Well done, Dwane!

  3. HR, and OD for that matter, have been fighting for a seat at the table since I started my career….even presented at SIOP on the topic. So simple to just take a different look at the relationship. Nice step outside the box to do something different and move forward.
