Crowdsourcing HR

I have another tool I’d like to cover this week, but to do so I’d like to ask for some help from the readers.

I’m looking to put together a list of HR jobs.  Not a “manager, generalist, admin” kind of list, but around the work you do.  Specifically, for what services do your employees come to HR?  I’ll start off with a few high level categories and some sub points…

Talent Acquisition

  • Creating job descriptions
  • Resume review
  • Candidate screening
  • Interview management

Talent Management

  • Create performance review system
  • Administer performance reviews
  • Create development plans
  • Internal movement administration

Terminations

  • Legal adviser
  • Employee notification
  • Escorting employee from premises
  • Confiscation of company property

Dispute Mediation

  • Detective / Investigator
  • Impartial Contributor

Just a few ideas there, not all of which may be relevant to your particular practice.  I’d appreciate some input from you (yes, you) on what else your team needs from HR.  This will be a part of a larger discussion on creating HR strategy.

Thanks in advance for your help!

  1. […] Earlier this week I asked for help in putting together a list of HR functions.  (If you haven’t added yours, it’s not too late!)  Coming up, we will take a look at those functions through the Kano lens, and you can think about how much time you spend on each type of activity.
